Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Car Pool, the operator of POOL CAB, handles information when you use the mobile application and poolcab.in.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information handled through the POOL CAB mobile application, website and related support interactions. POOL CAB is operated by Car Pool. In this policy, “Car Pool”, “POOL CAB”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Car Pool as the operator of the POOL CAB service.

POOL CAB is a digital platform for shared-ride discovery and coordination. The information available and features used may differ depending on whether you use the service as a passenger, driver applicant, approved driver or website visitor.

2. Information we handle

Depending on the features you choose, we handle:

  • Account mobile number, OTP verification information, name, email address and profile photo. Driver applicants must complete their name, verified mobile number and email.
  • Ride searches, selected pickup/drop places, dates, times, seats, fares, payment status, bookings, changes, cancellation requests/reasons and participant feedback.
  • Parcel sender and recipient names and phone numbers, selected route and ride, weight, description, pickup/drop instructions, charge and booking/cancellation status. Provide another person's details only when you are entitled to arrange their delivery.
  • Foreground location only when you choose current-location pickup and grant permission; you can select places manually.
  • Driver applications, approval information and separate private Aadhaar front/back photos for authorised admin review. Masked Aadhaar is accepted when the required name and photo remain readable.
  • Reports, block preferences and moderation records when you use safety controls.
  • Installation identifiers, signed-in account identifiers, device/platform information, service presence, push tokens, notification interactions, crash and performance diagnostics. Security providers may process device/app integrity, app interactions and signals about selected installed apps within platform restrictions.
  • Information you voluntarily send to support.

Recent searches are saved on this device for the signed-in account. Signing out, clearing searches or completing in-app account deletion clears the relevant local history; your saved searches are kept separate from other signed-in accounts.

3. How we use information

  • Verify accounts, administer Driver Mode and provide ride and parcel search, booking and history.
  • Coordinate the booked ride/delivery and provide relevant contact and service notifications.
  • Detect and crop a clear single-person driver profile photo, following the separate explanation and agreement shown before cloud processing.
  • Handle safety reports, personal blocks, abuse prevention and authorised moderation.
  • Maintain service health, installation/presence counts, crash diagnostics and performance measurements.
  • Prepare access-restricted operational booking and route-request reports for POOL CAB staff and respond to support/deletion requests.

Cloud face detection locates a face for cropping. It does not match your face against Aadhaar or another identity, establish your identity, generate a new person, or guarantee that a driver is safe.

4. Visibility and service-provider processing

An approved driver's name, cropped profile photo and Driver Mode approval badge are visible to other signed-in users viewing relevant rides. The badge means POOL CAB admin approval for Driver Mode; it is not a guarantee of a driving licence, insurance, government verification or journey safety.

Private Aadhaar images are separate from profile photos. They are stored in restricted cloud storage and retrieved through authorised admin-review functions, not public photo links. They are not sent to the profile-photo face detector or shown to passengers or other drivers.

Relevant booking participants can access the trip/delivery details and authorised contact functions needed to coordinate their booking. Parcel recipient/contact information is used for delivery coordination. Report details are available to authorised moderators, not other users or the reported person.

  • Firebase and Google Cloud: authentication/session services, database, private storage, protected backend functions, App Check with reCAPTCHA Enterprise device/app safety checks, push messaging, crash reporting and performance monitoring process the data needed for those services.
  • MSG91: the OTP provider processes the mobile number and verification delivery/validation information for normal phone login.
  • Google Places: typed place queries and, when you choose current location, location-related requests support place/pickup selection. These features use Google Maps Platform content. This policy incorporates by reference the current Google Privacy Policy for Google's handling of data from these features, including its collection, use, retention and privacy controls. Use of these Google Maps features and content is also subject to the Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service.
  • Google Cloud Vision: the selected driver profile image is transmitted to the cloud face-detection service after agreement. POOL CAB normalises the image and keeps the resulting profile crop and processing metadata; the original source image is not saved as an Aadhaar document.
  • Google Sheets: authorised staff use operational booking and route-request reports containing relevant customer/contact and journey data. These are staff reports, not public sheets. Staff access and manual copies must be controlled separately.

These providers process information to deliver the services described above. Depending on the provider, processing may take place in India or other countries. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to handle safety, fraud or disputes.

5. Device access and controls

Location: requested for a foreground current-location action. No background journey tracking is required for the present service. Manual place selection remains available when permission is denied.

Photos and camera: accessed for a photo you choose to select or take. A separate cloud-photo explanation and affirmative choice precede driver face processing. Aadhaar/admin-review agreement is separate.

Notifications: booking and account updates are optional device permissions. Driver notification and sound preferences remain available in app settings.

Calling: a Call action opens the phone dialer with the authorised number; you decide whether to place the call. The current app does not require your contacts, SMS inbox, call log or broad photo-library access for these functions.

6. Retention and security

Private driver verification data is kept for application review and account administration. Completing the account-deletion process removes uploaded Aadhaar objects from active use and deletes associated verification information. Profile photos, notification registrations, personal block/report information and other account-linked records are removed or de-identified as applicable. See the account-deletion page.

Deleted Aadhaar and profile images remain in restricted recovery storage for seven days. They are not available in normal app use during that period, but authorised cloud administrators can recover them. Earlier database record versions remain recoverable for one hour. Account deletion therefore does not immediately erase every recovery copy.

We keep a minimal private record of the deleted account identifier to prevent old sessions or delayed requests from recreating it. Some journey, charge, aggregate and security records can remain de-identified, or be retained where needed for a specific legal, safety, fraud or dispute purpose. These records are kept only for the relevant purpose. Different records have different retention periods, and provider logs or recovery copies may remain after account deletion.

Technical logs in our default cloud log storage are retained for 30 days; required audit logs are retained for 400 days. These periods apply to those logs, not to all profiles, bookings or uploaded documents.

Booking reports are updated automatically. Support correspondence, staff notes and exported reports are handled separately from automated account deletion. Contact support about deletion of these records. Service providers manage their logs and backups under their own retention arrangements.

We use authenticated access, restricted server functions and storage rules intended to protect data in transit and at rest. No system is completely secure; do not share passwords or OTPs.

7. Your choices and requests

  • Edit supported profile details and clear recent searches.
  • Control device permissions and driver notification/sound preferences.
  • Decline cloud driver-photo processing; the Driver Mode application still requires an acceptable processed photo before submission.
  • Report inappropriate profiles/content and block or unblock a user. Personal blocking hides relevant public driver content and prevents new bookings between the accounts; it does not silently cancel existing bookings, change seats or charges, or remove necessary existing-booking support.
  • Request correction, access or deletion through in-app account deletion or the external deletion request route.

Support can explain any retained records and the applicable purpose. Other participants' own records and lawful retention requirements are handled separately.

8. Children, policy changes and contact

Users must be legally able to use the service and follow any age or eligibility requirements presented in the app. The service is not intentionally designed to collect information from children who cannot legally consent under applicable law.

We may update this policy as the service changes. A revised effective date will be shown on this page, and material changes may also be communicated through the app or another appropriate channel.

For privacy questions or requests, email jplsingla@gmail.com or call 76963-06775. The same details are available on the Contact page.
